We don’t strive to have all the answers, or one way of doing things.
Each class, regardless of style, will be a conscious physical and meditative journey focused on some aspect of the human experience. Illumina teachers will approach each layer of the journey — from body through to spirit — in a full spectrum approach igniting yogic experiences that dive beyond and through asana (poses) into the heart of what it means to be human.

So what class should I take?

Why take an asana-based class?

Our bodies work so hard for us, and no body is perfect. Asana practice, (yoga poses) help to support us physically in our life. Just like you need to take your car to a mechanic for a tune up, asana helps you to calibrate yourself to an optimal state of being.

You are able to address dynamically and therapeutically how your body can move in more aligned ways to keep you strong, active, and physically aware of how you hold yourself. A tool to see your body the way your are, and how you can deal with the reality of what happens to the meat suit you get to wear every day. You have to move differently to think and act differently.

Why take a Kundalini Yoga class?

The physical practice of yoga was created to prepare the body for meditation. Kundalini Yoga gives you expedited experiences of cathartic mental and emotional release to stand in the radiant center of your own truth through physical dexterity, and active meditations using transformative breath practices.

It specifically is designed to move your energy to strengthen your nervous system, balance the glandular system, and remove subconscious blocks. Your mind becomes optimized to act creatively, experiencing your own strength and amplified consciousness.

Why take an Illumina Flow class?

Illumina Flow is a vinyasa style class but contains within it the energetic potency of Kundalini yoga. Along with asana; mantra, moving metaphor, music, and shamanic principles create a merging of the physical realm with the deeper layers of consciousness. You will be guided to embody an archetypal theme and allow it to transcend through the total self, mental, emotional, and physical realms.

Practicing this form merges the need for physical awareness as well as the ability to use the physical form to go deeper. Consciously liberate, inspire, empower, and understand your humanness, what connects us all, and how to play with the dance of life.


Illumina Flow is a vinyasa style class with a strong unified intention that is carried throughout the class on all layers including the asana. An Illumina class will feel like a journey with the purpose of illuminating some facet of what it means to be human & offering specific tools for reflection and transformation. Expect mantra, moving metaphor, music, Kundalini elements and shamanic principles to be present in some form. This class is recommended for those with a strong foundational practice who love to explore.


From the outside it might look like a very different sort of practice, but it is a highly refined and ancient technology of using your body and breath to strengthen your nervous system, glandular system, and clean out your subconscious mind. You will find balance, strength, and a deeper level of focus and relaxation.

Kundalini Yoga is the synthysis of all forms of yoga. What does that mean? It means it works faster. One Kundalini class can have the same lasting effects as practicing for a week! Repetition of movement, strong breath practices, sound, meditation, deep relaxation are all present in a class.

Yogi Bhajan is the only Master to teach Kundalini outside of a small elite group of practitioners in India beginning in 1968. He came to the US and quickly saw the pressures our culture was under and taught a system of yoga that allows us to handle the stress and complications of our daily lives.

Why cover your head?
The skull is made up of interconnected cranial bones that if even slightly misaligned, can cause the brain to not function as highly as is possible. Wrapping the head in a hat, scarf, even turban sets these bones in place. While we’re dealing specifically with meditations to strengthen brain capacity and functioning, it’s important to be as clear as possible.

Why Chant Mantra?
Sound vibration has the most profound affect on the mind and body. Every part of you is involved: the brain is processing the sounds, the body is moving to produce the sound, the breath is used in a specific pattern, and the body is vibrating. There are also 84 meridian points connected to the brain on the roof of the mouth which the tongue activates shifting brain function.

No experience necessary, beginners welcome


Vinyasa flow is an athletic practice, linking postures and breath together into creative sequences designed to explore, express, strengthen, and energetically balance the whole being. Expect to be led thematically so that you may experience a deeper awareness of the connection between your body, mind, energy field and heart.


Restorative Yoga is a loving and consciously guided journey into your most relaxed and open state.  This class will dissolve tensions in the body, calm the nervous system, and restore you to your innate balance. Expect to experience Yoga postures supported by props, subtle breath cues, visualization/meditation techniques and deep relaxation.


An Illumina based align class will create conscious awareness to your physical body’s alignment and will allow for the whole self to come into focus and shine. Intentional and intelligent principles of optimal alignment will be taught as well as other powerful tools for self reflection & direction of energy. Class may include meditation and/or pranayama techniques, bringing you into the center of yourself through the portal of the body.

Cancelling your Regular Class Reservation

We understand that life has unexpected surprises and you will not always be able to attend the classes you sign up for. If you can’t come to class, you can cancel your reservation up to 20 minutes before the class starts. You may also call the studio or email us to cancel your reservation if you aren’t able to do it online or via our app. If you call, leave a message with your name and class that you were registered for.

If you are not able to cancel at least 20 minutes before the class, but still notify us that you aren’t coming, our late cancel fee is $10. However, if you don’t show up and don’t let us know, you will be charged for the class. We do understand that Life Happens, and are happy to pull your name out of the class without penalty if you call or email us with the reason that you aren’t able to attend class.

Cancelling your Workshop Reservation

You may cancel your reservation for one of our workshops up to 48 hours in advance to receive a full credit to your Illumina East account to be used toward any future purchases. Between 24- 48 hours in advance you will be given a 50% credit. Unfortunately, we are not able to give refunds or credits to your account for cancellations that occur less than 24 hours before workshops.

Inclement Weather Cancellations

In case of inclement weather or other potentially dangerous situations, we will make the decision to cancel classes or workshops at least 2 hours ahead of time. Please check the online schedule or the center’s Facebook page before heading out.
